About Rochelle

“I write because I have to. It’s part of who I am.”
—C. Rochelle Weidner

Rochelle Weidner’s writing experience began when very young, writing arguably bad poetry and later, impassioned editorials for the school newspaper. Writing became a series of journals, her life in story form, kept year after year and not until her thirties did she embark on the adventure of writing her first book. She proved to herself she could do it. Never mind that she did not share her work and it languishes still in storage. She had the bug, she dreamed of becoming an author.

Work and life interceded, marriages, moves, and travel. Including life in seven different states and travel from the Alaska wilderness to the splendor of Europe. Looking back now, all provided a rich background of material from which to draw.

Rochelle did, ten years later, when a victim of a corporate restructure. She dusted off the keyboard and became more acquainted with this new and wondrous tool, the Internet. Always able to spin a tale, Rochelle used the Internet to search for homes for her stories. After the usual colossal number of submissions, “Idiot’s Guide to Zombies” made the 2003 issue of Ghoulish Intent. She was now published.

Writing extremely short fiction is an interesting challenge to her and she likes to enter contests. She received a Third Place win in FMAM Fire to Fly short story contest in 2003, and an Honorable Mention in 2004. Two stories have appeared in Crime and Suspense and she’s had two Honorable Mentions in the Alfred Hitchcock’s Mysterious Photograph contest. “Twice Killed” appears in the March, 2008 ezine of Crime and Suspense.

She currently is working on two novels and several short stories and poems. She has taken on a partner (who prefers anonymity) in one venture. Watch this space for updates on their progress. Rochelle is a member of Sisters in Crime and Mystery Writers of America.Lured by trade winds and lovely surf, Rochelle and her husband, Mike, and their cat, Max, retired to Oahu. Tropical paradise, such a lovely place for murder and mayhem!
